BREALITO – CALCHAQUIES VALLEYS

Day 1: SALTA / CACHI / BREALITO – COMUNNITY BASED TOURISM

Early start to the Calchaqui Valley.  The scenic Route 33 will show you how diverse, in terms of nature, is the state of Salta. Following this route you are going to have an amazing morning surrounded by lush vegetation at “Los Laureles” gorge followed by the Bishop slope that will take us to the highest point on the route (3348 meters of altitude) with incredible views of the landscape. Enormous cacti in the national park “Los Cardones”, colorful mountains and an amazing views of the Eastern Andes Mountain Range represented  by the Snowy Cachi (6380 meters,) everything on the same road in only 150 km.

Once in the village of Cachi you will have time for lunch and time to discover the place. Returning to the road we will use the National Road 40 which is the longest in our country (5000 km length) to get closer to our final destination where we will be host by a family that, first of all, will show us the place by an easy walk.

The village is nestled in a narrow gorge surrounded by huge blocks of colored rocks and traversed by a mountain river that allows the creation of a beautiful oasis for agricultural and livestock subsistence production.

DAY 2: BREALITO

During the morning, we will have the opportunity to share time with locals and discover or participate in rural or gastronomic activities. There will be time to enjoy a unique experience by working with cactus wood in an interesting workshop that might surprise you!

A delicious meal gives us the strength to start a peaceful walk to “El Angosto”. The path follows the river surrounded by impressive red sandstone rock formations, the scenery is complete with small productive areas were local have their crops (corn, squash, potatoes etc…)

Our guide will explain the use of the local plants and ancestral customs like the believe and respect to Mother Nature “Pacha Mama”

At the end of the afternoon we will visit Dolores house for a tasty snack, the little mud house standing proudly on a great rock towering over the river will be perfect to finish the activity

DAY 3: BREALITO – SALTA

After an early breakfast our local guide will take us to a 3 hours hike to discover the Brealito´s lagoon. The path will also show us part of the pre-Hispanic history by some petroglyphs that you will see on the rocks near the lagoon.

After lunch with the family will be time to say god bye and return to the city of Salta or follow to our next destination.
