Day 5: SALTA – CAFAYATE – CALCHAQUI VALLEY – HOMESTAYS

Morning: Tour to Cafayate

We depart early for the Lerma Valley – where the city of Salta is located – and through towns where agriculture is the main economic activity (tobacco crops). The most beautiful place is found on our journey to the Calchaqui Valley inside the Shells Gorge. The wind of the Andes and the water erosion have sculpted the rocks, creating incredible shapes and rock formations.

This sunny valley located at 1600 meters above sea level produces wines of high concentrated flavors, especially the Torrontes, a really fruity white grape. We are going to visit a winery that produces organic wines for a wine tasting

Once in the valley, we will meet its inhabitants and spend a few days with a family member of the rural and Community-based Tourism co-operative. The perfect opportunity to practice what you have learn of Spanish and at the same time to get to know the people from the valley, customs and their way of life. The homestays are based on sharing daily life: artisanal or agricultural tasks and other activities with your hosts, but above all-to generate an intercultural exchange

Accommodation: Private rooms in communities guest house. Lunch and dinner included

Day 6:  CALCHAQUI VALLEY– HOMESTAYS

Second day of living with the host family.

Time to learn how to prepare regional food, cooking in a clay oven or according to the season and the centers of interest of the visitor, pruning vines, planted paprika, learn weaving loom, making pottery, etc. The student will have the opportunity to absorb more vocabulary during those simple chats with the family members,

Accommodation: Private rooms in communities guest house. Lunch and dinner included
